Search For A Stoke City Star – Joe Worrall

With less than a month to go until the transfer window opens the footballing rumour mill is beginning to build into a crescendo of speculation. In keeping with this tradition I will be giving you my run down on the players who are being linked with a move to the Bet365. This time a young defender tipped to be a star of the future:

Joe Worrall

Current Club: Nottingham Forest

Position: Centre Back

Possible Price –  One and a half million pounds (with add ons)

Anybody else interested: Everton

Giraffe or Lemon:  A young giraffe.

Where Would He Fit In:

Stoke currently have two specialist centre halves and Clumsy and Muniesa who can fill in when required but a third centre back would provide cover. However Worrall is almost certainly in the one for the future category and I would expect, if bought, he would be sent straight back to Forest on loan.

Do We Need Him:

Stoke currently have a couple of young centre halves on the books and the question would be whether Worrall represents an upgrade on these. As is the case these days stockpiling young players is a common Premiership practice and Worrall does represent a good investment but signing a more senior centre half is perhaps a more pressing concern

Who’s place would be under threat:

As he fits into the one for the future category nobody in or around the first team squad.

Verdict: Another one for the future and I would expect any deal would see Worrall going back to Forest for at least the remainder of this season but has the potential to be a long term replacement for the captain.
