Search For A Stoke City Star – Sam Lammers

With the international break now over most football journalists will, if they haven’t already, try to justify their paycheques by speculating on who will be going where during the upcoming transfer window. In keeping with this tradition I will be giving you my run down on the players who are being linked with a move to the Bet365. This time a young player making a name for himself in Holland:

Sam Lammers

Current Club: PSV Eindhoven

Position: Centre Forward

Possible Price –Up to 5 Million Pounds

Anybody else interested: Middlesbrough, West Ham

Giraffe or Lemon:  A young giraffe.

Where Would He Fit In:

One for the future who could make an impact of the bench

Do We Need Him:

Mame aside Stoke’s first team forwards are all getting on in years and if Wilfried’s loan isn’t made permanent our forward line could look bleak come the start of next season. Bringing in a talented young striker in January would allow them to acclimatise to the club without the responsibility of being the main man.

Who’s place would be under threat:

Either, or both of, Two Meter Peter and Super Jon would find their places under threat and bringing in a young striker would allow the Stoke board to trim the wage build. In addition, if Lammers showed enough promise then Wilfried may find any chance of a permanent contract evaporating.

Verdict: An investment in youth, Lammers would be worth a punt by any of clubs currently in the middle of the Premiership pack. Able to hold the ball up well and with quick feet Lammers would fit well with Stoke’s current style of play and at only 19 years of age would also have good resale value. The only catch would be bringing in a player of his age could hamper the progression of any youth players in his position.
